Greater Greenwood Community Band: Municipal Music in Greenwood
The Greater Greenwood Community Band (GGCB) is comprised of a group of almost 80 talented musicians from Greenwood, Indiana and its environs. Drawing its membership from local players and players from nearby towns such as Spring Hill, Imperial Hills, New Whiteland, Whiteland, Stones Crossing, El Dorado and Critchfield, this group even has members from big brother Indianapolis, the great metropolitan state capital just ten minutes to the north.
The Greater Greenwood Community Band plays under the banner of the city of Greenwood and enjoys the assistance of many good, music-loving sponsors. Founded in 1993, this Indianapolis musical organization attracts serious musicians who like challenging music geared to thrill the audiences who hear it.
Ongoing monthly concerts are free and open to the public, more often than not performed in the Greenwood Amphitheatre or the Greenwood High School auditorium, where the group rehearses every Thursday night.
