Center Grove Lassie League

The Center Grove Lassie League is an Indianapolis nonprofit organization headquartered in Greenwood, Indiana. Run entirely by volunteers, this girl’s softball facility and organization was created in 1974. The Center Grove Lassie League gives Greenwood girls a opportunity to grow and thrive through team activities, physical exercise. By teaching girls softball, the Center Grove Lassie League contributes to friendship and confidence building for many girls.

Center Grove Soccer Club

As the area’ largest privately owned and managed youth soccer league, the Center Grove Soccer League provides recreational soccer training for children ages four to fifteen. Founded in 1980, this Greenwood organization is keeping Greenwood society together. They also offfer a range of competitive travel soccer teams for boys and girls ages eight to fourteen. Every June and October, the Center Grove Soccer Club attracts more than 10,000 soccer players and families from around the United States during their nationally recognized youth soccer tournaments.

Greater Greenwood Community Band
The Greater Greenwood Community Band, founded in 1993 with a mere twenty seven members, has since grown to include nearly eighty members. Welcoming any and all Greenwood musicians, this Greenwood music organization is well known throughout the city of Greenwood. Funded by the city, it is governed by an elected Board of Directors and plays many Greenwood events each year.

Greenwood Farmers Market

This tasty Greenwood event is a seasonal affair. From April to October, the Greenwood Public Library parking lot is full of the freshest produce, plants, honey and baked goods in Greenwood or South of Indianapolis downtown. Open Saturdays from 8:00 am to 12:00 pm and Wednesdays starting in June, this is an event not to be missed by Greenwood society.

Greenwood Freedom Festival

The Greenwood Freedom Festival is an annual celebration of Greenwood society each summer. It commemorates national pride and fosters a sense of civic involvement and community celebration. Many Greenwood businesses and organizations are involved in putting together this weekend long south Indianapolis festival. With live music and delicious food from Greenwood restaurants, Greenwood people look forward to the Greenwood Freedom Festival all year.

Greenwood White River Rotary

The Knights of Columbus Council 6138

The Knights of Columbus Council 6138 are the Greenwood branch of this national organization. Founded in 1969, the Knights of Columbus in Greenwood are still going strong today. Each year they offer special programing for children, seniors and the entire community. Most of their events are centered around helping people get through the holidays, through they also organize and annual blood drive. Greenwood society benefits vastly from their good work each year.

Melchior Marionette Theatre

This family owned and operated puppet theatre has been entertaining the Circle City since 1952. They have performed throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Europe and even China. Now in their second and third generation, the Melchior Marionette Theatre specializes in festivals, corporate events, country clubs and school functions. They offer beautifully hand crafted puppets and a fun show. Catch them at great Indianapolis events such as the Penrod Arts Fair on the grounds of the Indianapolis Museum of Art. This puppet theatre is a favorite of many Indianapolis kids.

St. Francis Soccer Club

This elite Greenwood sports club offers competitive soccer training for Greenwood kids. With both recreational soccer and travel soccer, kids can pick and choose their level of involvement. In addition, they offer several competitive tournaments each year, which attract soccer players from across the United States.

The Southside Art League

The Southside Art League was founded in 1963 and formed officially in 1964 as a not for profit organization with 59 charter members. They receive funding each year from individual memberships, corporate membership and class and workshop fees. Each year the Southside Art League sponsors a seven state regional art show.

In addition, the Southside Art League supports Greenwood art by offering instructional classes in oil painting, watercolor painting, acrylic painting, drawing, portraiture and pottery. They have eight instructors teaching fifteen classes, available for both adults and children.
