Sports and recreation in Greenwood, Indiana are jogging along with the population increase, keeping pace. An interesting effort recently started by Greenwood‘s mayor, working in conjunction with the Greenwood Parks and Recreation Department, is called the Commit to Be Fit Program. It reflects the endless spirit of this Indianapolis suburb’s residents and their determination to get the most out of life on every level.
The program provides a wide array of opportunities and venues for those wishing to get in shape. You can catch an informative discourse at INShape Indiana, pump iron or swim at the Greenwood Community Center, or work out with your baby in the stroller along one of Greenwood’s many beautiful walking and jogging trails.
Elsewhere, outside the “Commit to be Fit Program,” Greenwood is home to many other opportunities to play. With no fewer than 14 Greenwood parks containing all kinds of athletics fields, playgrounds, Greenwood sports facilities, ball courts and just plain gorgeous wide spaces to romp, Greenwood provides everything its energetic population could want or need.
Then of course, there are always the world-famous venues for viewing sports, such as Conseco Fieldhouse and the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, home of the stars of auto racing and the Indianapolis 500, both in next door Indianapolis.
